Acupuncture

Over 2,000 years ago, Acupuncture originated in China and is one of the most commonly used, oldest medical procedures known.

The word acupuncture relates to a group of techniques involving stimulation of anatomical points on the body to affect other parts of the body by a variety of procedures. American practices of acupuncture incorporate medical traditions from China, Japan, Korea, and other countries.

Chiropractic and Acupuncture virtually go hand-in-hand with each other since both are vitalistic, working on releasing, enhancing and balancing the body’s own restorative energies without drugs or surgery.  In Chiropractic this energy is called “Innate Intelligence”.  In Acupuncture, it is called “Qi” or “Chi”.  They both also incorporate the idea that working on one area of the body can directly affect and improve the function other areas of the body.

In our office, we most commonly utilize painless and gentle, non-needle, micro-current Auriculotherapy Acupuncture. This is the stimulation of points on the auricle or outer projecting portion of the external ear for the balancing of chi energy related to other parts of the body.

Auriculotherapy

Auriculotherapy is a complete system of acupuncture able to affect many health conditions, addictions and pain successfully.

A widely accepted variation of acupuncture developed by Dr. Paul Nogier of France in the 1950s and validated in China through extensive research, auriculotherapy is the stimulation of the auricle or outer projecting portion of the external ear for the diagnosis and treatment of health conditions in other parts of the body. The stimulation can be done with acupuncture needles, manual pressure, lasers, magnets, ear pellets or micro-current stimulation.  In our office, we usually use micro-current because it is painless, non-invasive and highly effective.

Neuro Emotional Technique

Emotions are natural and healthy. They are built-in response mechanisms that primarily protect and promote our general survival. However, when our body is out of balance, emotions can literally "short circuit" our nervous system, affecting our beliefs, our behaviors, and even our physical body! The Neuro Emotional TechniqueR (NET) can help bring the body back into balance using a mind-body approach.  http://www.netmindbody.com/patients/net-explained.asp

Dr. K Asks some important questions of interest to Herndon residents - Chiropractor Herndon Dr. K Asks...

What causes subluxations?
Chiropractors acknowledge three types of stress: physical, chemical and emotional. When the adaptive capacity of your body is compromised, weakened areas along the spine can become involved. Muscles tighten, spinal joints lock up and nearby nerves are affected. The purpose of chiropractic care is to find these areas and restore balance, alignment and motion.
What's the difference between a "good" drug and a "bad" drug?
As a chiropractor, I see the use of many drugs (legal or illegal) as merely symptom treating. Worse, virtually every drug produces unwanted effects. The effects of chiropractic are largely positive effects. If you're a Herndon parent, consider carefully before giving your child a cough medication, cold remedy or pain reliever so this sort of question doesn't arise in the first place.
